The process of creating for me, is as intrinsic to my being as breathing is. 

I often have a strong urge to create; inspired by nature, particular colours, and feelings.

When creating a piece of art, the process provides me with a mindful and therapeutic experience, of renewal and reinvention, with the end product in my case being a unique piece of art.

Painting is organic and emergent and this (most of the time) can be quite a scary feeling, moving towards the unknown often takes courage to continue on the path, keeping in mind the knowledge that the art has a life of its own, and will emerge in the form it was always meant to be, when it is ready.

I returned to art a number of years ago following the arrival of my second child, where I struggled with post natal depression.

The creative process reminded me that not all experiences in life are linear and predictable, and it takes great courage to continue on a path where the outcome is unknown, keeping faith in the knowledge that what is meant to be will be. 

There is beauty in darkness, and out of chaos comes clarity and strength. 

The journey we take as artists and as humans, is what makes the end result all the more beautiful.
